Event Details [イベント詳細], Route and Time [ルートと時間]
Get off at Shiomaru station and walk 20 minutes along the road to fish farm.... buy fresh fish like trout, ayu or yamame if you want to BBQ.  There is a  coffee stand on the way. Continue on the road about 1 hour or less to Unazawa waterfalls - very beautiful.
Stay there a while and eat maybe. From there we take a short cut back to Hatonusu through the forest on easy hiking trail. It goes past 'huge' old oak trees and Koesawa Butress campsite and rock climbing cliffs to the river (1hr 30 mins). Walk along nice river gorge path 2 km to the Suiko-en onsen (水香園) with lots of Hydrangea in bloom. Can take train also but 1 or 2 stations only...
Maybe also hot spiced red wine if road walk at the end.
If time, and people interested we can do a sake brewery tour and tasting but it is only available at 3pm - hope we have time...
2 train stops from the onsen at Sawaii - see bottom of message for details.

About the brewery: Ozawa Shuzo

http://www.sawanoi-sake.com/

http://www.att-japan.net/en/spot/ES000335

http://www.ivebeenthere.co.uk/tips/1190

Established in 1702, the brewery's "treasure" is a well that provides it with abundant hard water which is mixed with soft water from another spring 4 km away.

Ozawa Shuzo's Sawanoi brand is light and dry, which complements the salty cuisine popular in Tokyo, but in recent years they have been trying to make a richer sake.

The brewery, built near the upper reaches of the Tama River, offers guided tours four times a day starting at 11 a.m. Although the guides only speak Japanese, there are English brochures that explain the brewing process.

There are two restaurants where visitors can find the Sawanoi lineup, as well as a sake-tasting spot that offers up to 10 varieties for 200 yen to 500 yen per cup. Visitors can keep the sake cups as souvenirs.

Ozawa Shuzo's main export to the West is Daikarakuchi -- literally "very dry taste." But its apricot-flavored sake is quite popular with foreign visitors, the brewery said.

Thanks so much Andy, I will definitely take you up on the gear offer (although my grocery bag will feel very left out).  See you tomorrow!  Also, I don't have a phone so the easier it is to meet up for me the better.  :)
