http://outdoorclubjapan.com/index.php?topic=3381

=======================================================

Costco Teramisu with...
Fruit Crumble and Custard (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, apple)

Fruit below a baked 'crumble' - a layer of flour, oats, nuts, coconut, butter mix. Like butter cookies but crunchy at the top and sticky at the bottom with fruit juices.

=======================================================

Sunday breakfast is a full English breakfast.
Tea and coffee also at breakfast.

Leftovers will be used for lunchbox Sunday.

Saturday

Leave Shinjuku at 0909am. Meet Ome station 1007am. Group shopping in Ome at 10.15am (EVERYONE).
Extra cost required before shopping - 3,000en. Please have ready.

Get back on train with shopping after about 1 hour... latest train 1149.

FREE campsite bus from Okutama station at 12.40 (a few people allowed to arrive later and take public bus to  lake then walk 35 minutes).
By public bus from Okutama you get a bus going around the lake (500en). Get off at Ogochi Jinja (shrine), then walk across small footbridge over the lake. It is abut 30 minutes to campsite walking.

Around 1.15pm  check in, unload food. MUST start cooking turkey!!! Get pots, pans etc.
A special group can get sleeping bag, mats etc.
After important cooking started people can set up tents.
Everyone has a job cooking/cleaning!!!
Cheese/toast, soup and xmas drinks while cooking.

Christmas dinner and drinks (hot spiced wine etc).

I am sure tanuki (raccoons) will visit in the evening when they smell all the good food. We can feed them a little.

Sunday
Warm up food and make English breakfast, clean up camp area/garbage by 10am, and pay bill. When all this is done people can pack up their own tents.
Maybe see tanuki again.
Free campsite bus at about 10.45am.

Hiking (and onsen)
There will be an easy  hike but decided before weekend. One idea is a 4 hr 30 minute hike to Shishikura yama ( Tabayama- Kosuge).
See here:
http://outdoorclubjapan.com/index.php?topic=3405

Can also do walk around the lakeside which is just 3 hours.

A deposit is needed before shopping can be done.
The 3,000en covers some of the special food and basic campsite costs like charcoal and wood for cooking.

If you cancel after Tuesday 15th there is no refund (a lot of food will have been paid for on Wednesday).
If a refund is requested by Tuesday 15th, it will be sent back minus bank charges/
Members are responsible for their guests.

When you transfer the money you must include a name so it can be matched to people.
All you have to do is go to a bank machine and input the  bank name, branch, select ordinary/ futsu account, then input the account number. It should display my name in katakana. If you cannot do it then ask the staff to help with 'Furikomi/Genkin' - no problem these days in English.

3,000en per person by 3pm Monday 14th December.
In case the event is cancelled the money will be returned minus bank sending fee. We will not cancel if rain as it is mainly a food event and we use kitchen under roof.

Bank Account Details:

Mitsubishi Tokyo UFJ Bank
 Ichikawa branch
 Branch Number: 619
 Account type: Ordinary (Futsu)
 Account Number: 0651095
Account Name: ANDREW DUGGAN   (this is displayed in Japanese Katakana 'アンダル ドウガン')

I assume it is difficult, but may I ask you again whether I could leave some stuffs at the camp site and pick them up later on Sunday.
I will reply about the tent/sleeping bag once you have confirmed about this.

As you can see for yourself on the map, the suggested hike is not so close to the campsite.
We check out by 10am and leave before 11am if possiblle. Maybe on campsite bus if it is available. The suggested hike will finish around 4pm maybe so no time to return campsite.
The hiking route is not 100% confirmed anyway so you need to be responsible for your own bag.

Hike with the bags or if people go by car you can leave in a car - there might be 2 cars. I cannot comment about car people.
Or leave bags near the bus stop.

We do not know who will hike until Saturday or Sunday. People might change plan if the weather is not good for hiking.

That is all I can say - ask others yourself about leaving your bags in  a car, leave them near a bus stop. or carry them.

Deadline for deposit is 3pm Monday. After that there is an extra 1,000en late charge.

All people signed up so far have paid the deposit.

Shopping for some things will start Wednesday.

I might need volunteers to help me with Costco shopping on Thursday 17th. Shin-Misato Costco is very close to the station. Need to be there before 7pm as it takes time getting in , going around and checking out. They close at 8pm I think.
Train cost goes in the campsite bill.

People can buy their own things using my card. Also we can eat very cheap Costco pizza after shopping.

Hi Andy,

Just confirming the plan is still to meet at Ome station for last shopping at 10am?
I am not in the car this time so we will meet you there at that time to help carry the stuff and get any last minute things.

Anything special you want me to bring for the hike let me know.

Ok, everything is written on the website - please read carefully.

1. I do not want to buy lots of plastic and throw away so

BRING OWN BENTO BOX & CUP (use as dish and Sunday food pack).
Also knife if possible, fork, spoon etc.
If you have a peeler for vegetables we need about 4. If none we must buy tomorrow.

Also bring a few small food plastic bags or zip lock if you have them. We can get in Ome if people forget. We will need extra for Sunday food packing.

LED light - must bring! Cheap one ok from 100en shop.

2. DO NOT bring any food!!! No snack foods etc. We spent a lot of money on expensive food. Do not eat lunch or fatty smacks.
We have bought Saturday lunch... DO NOT BRING OWN FOOD!.

3. We have 10Liters of wine - do not bring own drinks!!!
Big bottle of Irish coffee  cream/whisky

4. We meet at Ome JR station ticket gate 1005am. DO NOT BE LATE.
I will be on the train from Ochanomizu so look for me in the 2nd car at the front of the train.

I need 3,000en/person for rest of camp costs at the station. We adjust Sunday 10am for final bill (maybe extra /maybe money back - we do not know now).

You  must study food recipe - We will decide at station about groups. Each group will go shopping for each recipe.
I check before register and pay. People always buy too much so I need to check. We have more than 1 hour but it takes time - please listen and do the jobs.

We get on train and go Okutama when finished.

5. At campsite we must start turkey cooking immediately.
This is the highest priority. Everyone must help for different jobs needed.
Pots, pans etc.
Charcoal, wood.
Lighting fire, collecting wood.
Preparing turkey and stuffing.

When these jobs done we can do other things like set up tents etc.

See you tomorrow at Ome.
Andy 090 3346 7854

Food and drink cost estimate is 3,700en/person. We will know tomorrow.

My student will bring some food boxes from Ichikawa by car and Jason, Shino volunteered to carry some things (heavy...please help).

When you see me next time please add 200en to organizer tip. Doesn't sound like much but another lost 2,000en for me.
Shopping in Okutama was not added to the bill - tomatoes, milk etc.  I will check again later to make sure nothing else missed.

If you have photos please upload to OCJ gallery.

I will upload mine Monday afternoon.

Turkey lunch today - tastes even better now.

That's really really good! Thanks.

I can see the professional touch but it must've still taken quite a lot of work editing that together.

NOTE!
It might not play on iphone from website but it plays no problem from PC.

Christmas camp people! You can add a plugin to Firefox or other browser to get this video from youtube and save it to your PC.
It has several high resolution options.
The plugins should be easy to find if you search for youtube video in the plugins section.
