09, Aug 14-15th:Kannon, Caves, Miniatures near Utsunomiya

hey all,

I'm planning on heading up towards Utsunomiya to see a 22m tall stone statue of Kannon and some caves either Friday or Saturday August 14th or 15th. There is also a nearby park that we can walk around.

Since the above doesn't really justify that long of a trip, there is also the Tobu World Square north of Nikko that I was planning on seeing the same day. It contains amazingly realistic 1/25th size miniatures of World Heritage sites from around the world.

*No special equipment needed. Might want to bring some water and snacks, and light rain gear just in case.

Cost: The World Square costs 2,500 for an adult, and the train and bus fare looks to be around 3,000 to get there. So budget around at least 8,500.

There is an express train from Asakusa to the World Square, which is quite convenient, but getting from the World Square to the Utsunomiya Kannon requires some odd train changes.

Let me know if you're interested.

Cheers,
Dave
