Saturday 1 day short hike and optional caving at Kawanori

For easy caving at Kawanori (beginners) ... some crawling in the cave and use of hands in vertical places but safe - Technical 2.
Location [場所]: Kawanori valley not far from Okutama which is about 1 hr 20 mins north west from Shinjuku, Tokyo.
Introduction [はじめに]
Main point is exploring the area near one of the caves but you can join for easy hike along the side of the river or along the forest road into the valley. It is short! Do not expect a full day hike. You can enjoy the walk and the riverside area while the others go caving.
For more adventurous people, they can try a beginner level cave (1 hour 30 mins).

Very short hike of about 30 minutes then 1 to 1.5 hrs in the cave. Maybe we will have more time to walk afterward but we need to get back to the campsite for the BBQ by 5pm if possible.
Things to Bring [持参するもの]
Day Hike
You need outdoor clothing and footwear with water and snacks for the day.
Raincoat.
Snacks and drinks.
Sandals and change of clothing a good idea if you want to walk in the river in some places... 30cm deep and trails around pools and waterfalls but might have to walk in the water sometimes if we do this type of activity. Just going to hte cave it is not necessary to get wet.
Basic Caving
Proper outdoor boots, helmet, headlight, spare light and batteries, matches. Clothing will get muddy so you need spare clothes. Gloves recommended.
Harness, karabiner useful but probably not needed.
We do not have extra helmets or light - you must get them.

Saturday
To do the easy cave we need to be quick... 1143 off the train at Hatonosu and get stuff to the campsite and return in less than 1 hour for 1240 train from Hatonosu to Okutama. Bus from Okutama station at 1255 and get off at Kawanori bashi 15 minutes later. Should be back at the campsite before 5pm.
If you want to come for the day only you can meet us at Okutama station. The bus stop is 10m outside the ticket gate for Nippara.
You can check your own train connections to arrive at Okutama before 1250.
Cost [費用]
Oneway: around 1,050en to Okutama on the train and 250en for bus. Then your food and drinks plus organizer fee.
