Looks like we will do the route in reverse from Yokokawa station but will discuss on the train - see you there. We have plenty of ear if needed.

You do not need high level experience - if you are good at sports, been hiking quite a lot, and confident on rock - ok
Not for low level people! Some places have long chains, one is 20m long, most are 5-10m.
Introduction [はじめに]
Unique rock formations in Japan at Myougi ... 'not to be missed' place. This route is for people not scared of narrow place, cliffs, vertical chains on rocks. One place has a 20m chimney climb but these days we always carry rope to make sure its safe on the longer or difficult chains.
Good training place for people interested in Alps ridges like Dai Kiretto.
For a 1 day trip from Tokyo it is the best place ... one of my favourite locations in Japan!

Taxi share about 10 minutes from Matsuida station. Should be about 600-800en each.
Basic route is from the centre of Myougi range starting at a public lodge called Kokumin-shukusha. Start around 10.15am.
From river climb up west to main ridge (2hrs, 12.15pm). Turn right and go north up another 25 minutes to first peak and view point at Fuketsu-one-no-kashira (1pm). This is all easy path.
Along ridge to Aka Iwa (1hr, 2pm) then on to Chousu-no-kashira ... strange rock (1hr, 3pm).Chains on this part of the route.
We can go down from here in about 1hr 30 mins (4.30pm). It can take time with a larger group so expect to finish the end after dark probably - safe place by then.
Total about 6+ hrs but usually we cut some off the map time.
I would llike to try an alternative old route that goes up the Fuketsu-one ridge... we could meet at the top if some prefer the main path.
Or, perhaps start from Yokokawa station at the end of the line and go up to Chousu-no-kashira, then along ridge and try going down Fuketsu-one ridge.
Will decide on the train.

Beautiful ridge and strange rocks ...Chousu no kashira. Can see several mountain ranges from there - Alps, Minakami area, Asamayama. After the wind the view should be good.
Things to Bring [持参するもの]
Need good outdoor footwear for this trip, warm clothes, snacks and drinks. LED light needed maybe gloves useful.
If you have them then bring 2 karabiners (1 locking) and 2 tape slings (at least 1m) to use as emergency harness or as security clipped into chain (climbing harness ok). Rock climbing boots not needed but some places have interesting short climbs.
Weather looks good there but bring raincoat for wind protection.
If you dont have karabiner or sling we can share.

Actually cheaper by train for most people ... get to JR Ueno or if more convenient Akabane.
JR Ueno station at 0715 on the platform, probably 5, for the 0723 Takasaki train. Meet in the middle of the train.
0723 from Ueno to Takasaki at 0909 on platform 4... need to be quick to change to 0913 Shinetsu train for Yokokawa on platform 5.
Get off at Matsuida or Yokokawa around 0937-0945.
Most places in Tokyo cost 2,210en for single ticket.
From west Tokyo (Shinjuku etc) you can catch the Takasaki line train at Akabane at 0733.
