Until Mid-March: Plum Blossom Hike & Historical Landmarks

Post by Andy OCJ »

Plum blossom is reaching it's peak now and rules in the Tokyo area might be relaxed soon.

There are many good places around Tokyo to enjoy plum blossom, hiking, picnic, history.

Someone will need to volunteer to meet people, collect the OCJ club fee, and guide the hike (as a group). Kamakura historical route and hike is probably the most interesting and it is easy.
If someone volunteers I can help with route details and map.

Suggestions:

No.1
Kamakura, Takatori Yama, Taura Park Plum Trees
Great trip with many options. Temples and shrines in Kamakura, old road rock cuttings, Takatori mountain sandstone carvings, Taura plum orchard.

No.2
Ome Yoshinobaigo Park plum trees. Optional hiking to the park via nearby mountains with one route which has a cave you can visit.

Yugawara plum blossom and rock climbing area. Very easy hike but more travel involved.

Around Nagatoro - 宝登山梅百花園. More of a walking trip.

There are other places in Saitama that can be organized with an easy hike.
Ogose plum blossom festival - 越生梅林. More of a walking trip.
