To Everyone,

I am touched by the generous offerings you are all providing for one another. It is motivating me to strive even harder to make this occasion as memorable and as silky smooth as possible.

Also, I'm adding a Ride Share section near the top of the Original Post to help organize people arriving by automobile.

wannes wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2020 2:07 pmhi, me and my girlfriend would like to join !
Hi Wannes, I am truly sorry, but the event is full. I wish I could make an exception but the arrangements have already been made. Please, please join us next time!

Makiko wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2020 6:04 pm Will you post if anyone cancels at the last minute, and a spot opens up?
Hi Makiko. Sure, I can post if someone cancels. I have a good feeling we'll have perfect attendance, but there is always a chance. Shall I put you on a waiting list?

Takashi wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2020 6:53 pm I will go by my van as usual and bring my equipment if needed.
Thank you Takashi! You're the man! Your services are greatly appreciated. Anyone who is still looking for a ride, this is your best option! Let Takashi know below (he reads everything, I know. He may take a day or so to respond). At the moment I accept your offer to bring a thermos, atmospheric lanterns, some camping chairs, and a tall table to use as a wine bar/dessert station next to the bonfire.

Tamara wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2020 11:10 am Dinner is not complete...
Thank you kind and spunky Tammy, I have sent you an e-mail.

Adam, I couldn't find your email id.
Sorry about that Tanuj, I put my e-mail id under "Sign-up Details" in the Original Post. I'll keep an eye on my inbox.

Hi Asa, if you have a large, 1L thermos, that will be helpful (maybe it the water will taste like wine 4 or 5 times after we use it).

Announcement everyone!

Exactly one week until Turkey Maple kick off. You can start counting down the days now. I feel like Santa Cause going over his checklists over and over again. I appreciate everyone reading through all the posts and keeping yourselves informed on all the happenings.

Cabin Crews:
Some joiners have informed me that they have assembled their own cabin crews [Seb, +son, Marco, +wife, Marina] and [Tammy, Mie, Nozomi, Aiko]. If you want to reach out to other members and make your own cabin crew, please do so. You can figure out who your cabin crew will be on your journey to the campground or as soon as you arrive. You will want to store your bags there as soon as you arrive. Asuka and I will sleep in the 6-man cabin and anyone is welcome to stay in there with us.

Arrival Time:
Drivers and bus riders, please try to arrive by 12:30 PM and 2:00. Festivities will begin at about 2:00 and dinner will be served at 3:00. Please do your best to arrive on time. If you are travelling by bus, I suggest catching the bus that drops you off at Nakatsugawa at 11:00. After you drop off your stuff at the camp, you can go explore up or down the road and view some leaves.

Helping Hands:
Everyone is encouraged to collect lots and lots of firewood for the kitchen and bonfire. We also need help setting up and decorating the dinner table. Let's make it Momiji theme this year!

Things to Bring:
Please bring your own fork, spoon and knife.
I have 100 paper cups and 100 paper plates, but I encourage you to bring and use your own plate and mug to help reduce waste.
I still need 1 or 2 more 1L thermoses. Please bring one if you are willing to let me use it.

I am so honored to be your host. I look forward to seeing you.

Thank you, Takashi! See you on Saturday.

Attention dessert makers!

If you are preparing a dessert, please bring something to cut and serve your dessert with (knife, scoop, etc.). The campground may not have anything useful for us. I wouldn't want your hard work to be smashed by a pair of BBQ tongs. I will provide small paper plates and napkins. Takashi is providing a nice table for desserts. All joiners were asked to bring their own forks (however, I will bring some plastic ones in case people forget).

Takashi wrote: Sat Oct 31, 2020 10:12 pm I can bring a few more thermoses. How many do we need?
We need 5, 1L thermoses in total. I have 1, Karthik has 1. Do you have 3?

asa wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2020 9:37 pm Adam, I don't have a 1L thermos but will bring 2 smaller thermoses. Adam and Asuka, if it's possible, can I stay with your cabin?
Asa, if Takashi can provide 3 1L thermoses, then you can leave yours at home. If not, then two small ones will do. Sure, you can join me, Asuka, and Kushal in the 6-person cabin.

Hi Tammy
Am able to please join your car pool? I suspect that shibuya and Shinjuku will be too busy to find a pick up spot so will aim for say Yoyogi if that’s ok?
Looking forward to it
Cheers

M. Lee wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 7:15 pmShall I prepare a few games for everyone to join?
Thanks Mie. A game or two around the campfire after dinner would be splendid. I have a couple of very simple "team games" to get the festivities started before the big feast.

UPDATE:

Firstly, weather looks awesome! Maybe the best forecast I have had all year. I am usually dodging rain clouds left and right. This weekend is a solid brick of sunshine. Overnight Saturday will be above freezing, not bad for Okuchichibu. But still cold.

Second, I think we'll have good colors. I think the best photos will be downstream from the campground. Inside the river valley and from the old, abandoned roads that go around the tunnels will be nice places to view leaves. We can explore them on Sunday. Driver's watch out for heavy traffic on Saturday... The nice weather might draw crowds. Do your best to arrive by 1:00p.m.

I am moved by all of extra efforts, big and small, being made by everyone in this group. We are bound to have a rich and fulfilling weekend. Don't worry if your creation isn't perfect. Mine certainly won't be, but I'm doing the best I can. I will see you all in one day and a half.
