Thursday, May 30th, 7PM-10PM Kinshicho Badminton (錦糸町- バドミントン), Izakaya
Sumidaku Sogo (new public) Gym
Kinshi 4-15-1, Sumida, Tokyo, Tokyo
Map

So far: Andy, Gareth, Candy, Hanna, Anan, Makiko, Daiki, Kevin Van, Mitsuhiro, maybe Kat,
Facebook badminton group: Andrew Graham,
Ok 1 more and its closed.
Found a nice location in Kinshicho - Tuesday and Thursday. It a public gym and new - very good flooring for courts.
As there are train and 2 subway lines there its good for many people.
錦糸町駅 ... about 3 minutes walk.
We need 2 people at reception to get a court allocation - best 6.55pm. Other people can meet in the badminton hall - look for 'Tokyo Badminton' or OCJ.
There are 6 courts and if 7 groups they start rotation every 15 minutes.
It is 500en to get in and if you stay a long time you pay a few hundred yen more when you leave.
We share shuttle costs.
I have 3 rackets that can be rented @ 200en. You can also rent from the gym for 100en.
There is no organizer fee for these types of events. Exception maybe when a lot of organization needed and approved first.
We will rotate games and try and match level or pairs. If more people, we can get another court if 2 people ask for that at reception. Then we can split the group into 2 levels (beginner and higher level) on each court.
If we finish a bit earlier we can go to izakaya near the station. Also lots of Asian food in Kinshicho like Thai.

The badminton court is on the 3rd floor.
Buy a 500en ticket from machine near reception show it to the reception staff.
You will get 3 things:
1. Paper receipt Q-code - use to go through gate.
2. A white plastic locker card if you get changed. You will need to change (to clean indoor sports) footwear near the changing rooms - put in locker or in your bag.
3. You will also get a small orange card to show (if needed) to staff at the badminton gym entrance.
4. When you leave you need to put your paper Q-code ticket in the machine to calculate any 'overtime' fee. Then you can go through the gate and leave. The staff will help if you don't understand!

Rackets are available there for 100en rental and I have 3 rackets (might do the same but 200en - pays for string repair/replacement). Mine are much better quality than the gym rackets.
We will add up cost of shuttles and share cost.
The badminton group will grow I think over the next month so could be a regular game. When it gets going we can set the format of organization better.
en Maybe 1 court lower level and 1 court higher level.
Warm up together by practise on court.
Split up groups and do basic stroke training - sets of clears, drop shots, flat drives, net push shots, tight net shots, smashes.
Play games and if time offer advice to beginner group. Use a rotation system (name pegs - top person chooses 3 others)
Izakaya if time.

100% going this week.
There should be at least 5 people now...
Not sure if Thomas is coming. Also expect about 2 more from badminton club to join. Hopefully we will have around 8 people - good number as we can rotate games and rest.
I will get some shulltes this week - will be 2 grades - the good 3,000en+ a dozen ones and hopefully other cheaper ones for beginners. Will be using feathers, not plastic.
We shouldnt use a full tube in one night so cost will be les than 500en/person for good shuttles and cheaper for lower grade shuttles.

We have enough people - nice number. Another on badminton site and maybe some I met there tonight.
Best another person meet me at 6.55pm so we can get court booking. Others can meet inside in the badminton hall - just look for OCJ or Tokyo Badminton.
