August: Matsuki Gorge Wild Camp (松木渓谷) - Grand Canyon of Japan

I cannot go so people need to walk together as a group - easy forest road most of the way.
Also collect and send the club event fee (paypal).

Easy trip for most members and a real wilderness camp area. Also the old copper mine (also interesting museum) and old miners village. Everyone who went on trips there enjoyed very much.

The gorge looks like Alpine scenery with towering rock peaks and some call it the Grand Canyon of Japan. Swim pools and lots of wild animals there. As it is cooler there you can enjoy camp fire at night with clear dark sky - star viewing.
Good location for 2 or 3 days.

Ashio Matsuki valley SW of Nikko.

Great walks around the valley for beginners.
About 2 hours easy walk along forest road and track to camp spots. Another 45+ minutes to better scenery spots.
There is a forest visitor centre half way along the track - often give free drinks there and chat about the history and forest work. Also a fox living there.
Many deer and monkeys - always see them.

Travel
Tobu train to Ashio Matou (quite a long time 3 hours+) or Express Tobu train to Nikko and short bus ride to Ashio but now costs more so not much difference.
A van or car share is good for this trip - quicker and cheaper. Can also visit nearby locations that are interesting.

More details if several people reply that they are ok to go together and collect the club event fee. I have a mountain map scan for this route. As stated it is mostly forest road track with a bit of hiking trail at the end.

Up to Netty and Deepam to agree a date. Once date set a few more would be expected.

I can give you a map copy but you will have to go as a group - easy but good trip/ location. Someone will have to collect the club fee and send to our paypal account.
